WebBest as I can tell, Unity doesn't have native support for m1 yet, so it just doesn't work yet on m1. EDIT: I should say doesn't work WELL yet. Supposedly some people have gotten it working based on some quick googling, but mostly seems like it doesn't run well at all right now without native support.
