Perhaps you need to call Amsoil and check to see if they had a defective production batch, it does happen. Sounds like GL -5 fluid. Does your Civic have any yellow metals in it as well? As long as you have the correct viscosity, you could probably use any fluid you wanted to in this transmission with the same results as the OE fluid. Gears, synchros, and bearings are fairly simple components that simply need lubrication. Webb29 nov. 2024 · Yes, this is a manufacturer defect with the oil control rings on the piston heads in the engine. Yes I did notice the issue right away at 95k miles when I did an oil change and noticed only 3 quarts drained out. Did the research at that point and saw the TSB on the oil control rings.

Its not cheap either. Not that I am a super Amsoil fan but I do use their ATF and gear oils. Not engine oil. Any trans or diff fluid Amsoil makes has worked perfectly for me, meaning no problems.
